I really fancy some cake but don't have any money to go and buy some.

In my cupboard I have:

S/R flour
Sugar
cocoa powder
eggs
marge

Has anybody please got a simple recipe using these?

weigh your eggs - say 3 or 4.

weigh out the weight of your eggs in marge and sugar - cream these together.
stir in beaten eggs

weigh out same weight of flour - if you want a choc cake substitute 1 tbsp cocoa for 1 tbsp flour. sift this and fold in

cook for 25 mins medium oven

Thank you, that sounds easy enough

Does it matter if I use caster sugar or brown sugar? I have it all in my cupboard as I have been planning for months to start baking and only just got round to it

cake won't be as light that is all.

enjoy!

purpleflower · 08/04/2008 21:19

Which one will make it lighter then? Sorry I'm not very good at this

caster sugar more traditional - brown sug will give a more caramel flavour and be a bit heavier. above recipe in 2 7"ish round tins or one larger rectangular.

sorry - thought you only had brown -caster better.

Thank you both so much, I will let you know how I get on.

you mean the drug!!! why would you do that!

purpleflower · 08/04/2008 22:13

If you mean the bowl, I'm pregnant and worried about the raw egg in it

I always remember fighting my brothers for it when I was little.
