Green Poo!!

We have started weaning our DS this week because he was no longer satisfied with milk (he is 22 weeks) He is happy eating from spoon but not impressed with carrot and ambivalent obout other food.

His poo however has turned to the colour of cooked spinach. Is this normal? Should we stay off the food for now?

What colour food are you giving him? I found that my ds (5 months) did an orange poo after eating loads of carrot and did a greenish poo after eating broccoli.
Does he show any other ill effects with solids, for example seems like he?s getting tummy ache, excess wind?

melbob, are you sure you haven't given him anything odd to eat? ddame home from nursery with green poo, just before Christmas?

Carla · 02/01/2005 16:08

When she was two, that was meant to say. And the nursery staff had certainly given them something dodgy to eat.

We gave him baby rice, sweet potato, pear and apple. we're following the Annabel karmel book. He doesn't seem to have excess wind he did cry more than usual last night but has a cold and was bunged up.

Other than having a cold, does he seem OK?

melbob · 02/01/2005 16:15

He seems fine apart from cold

The green poo could be due to being unwell then or maybe due to reaction to food. If your baby isn?t too bothered about the solids you could leave them for now until he is over the cold and then try again. This might give you a better idea as to whether it?s the food or not.
