I was having a wee tea party for ds's first birthday but as our respective families live 150+ miles away it seems to have escalated and the world and his wife appears to be coming.

I havent really (ok ever) done a buffet for this amount so am looking for ideas.

Am a pretty reasonable cook, but my mum is fab and every time she does this sort of thing it always looks and tastes amazing. I really want to make it nice for everyone.

Helllllllllllllllllllp pleeeeeeeeeeease.

I love coronation chicken and salmon. For me I would prefer to do all cold stuff as it can all be done in advance and then forgotten about....but don't forget to get out of fridge as cold sandwiches are yuk!

Good warm options could be a big lasagne served with green salad or chilli and rice?

Any one else got any fab ideas that they would love to share?

We did a buffet for dd recently and it consisted of the following:

Garlic bread
Pasta salad - 1 gluten free, 1 tuna with finely chopped red onion and peppers and sweetcorn, 1 vegetarian with egg instead of tuna.
Dips with crudites
Bread rolls
Quiche
Indian pakoras/ onion bhajis (shop bought though, tried homemade before and it's too much faff)
Pickles/ chutneys
Smoked salmon
Roast beef slices
Crisps
Leaf salad, tomato and cucumber slices

I think that's it.

Mainly a cold buffet with a few exceptions. If you are going to do a lot of it yourself then do it the night before. We did but still spent ages in the kitchen on the day getting it all out!

Have a nice party.

I always love cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, mini tartlets/quiches, dips.

What about a selection of cold meats - parma ham, chorizo, etc.
