Is it normal to dislike mushrooms?

I think it's perfectly normal to dislike celery, for instance. It shouldn't be allowed.

DS seems to feel the same way about mushrooms, and I've hardly used them in years due to his tendency to spit them out.

I've been craving a mushroom risotto of late.

DS is nearly 7 now. Can I now convince him they're not evil? Or perhaps such a dislike of mushrooms is commonplace and I shouln't abuse him in this way.

What do you think?

I pretty much like any food, but maybe people whose ancestors lived near poisonous mushrooms developed a dislike?

Mushrooms are utterly vile, nasty, alien, wierd things. nasty texture and nasty taste.
do you know that fungi are neither vegetable nor animal - but slightly related to both?
nasty nasty nasty. and wrong in every way.

My dp won't touch them either! I think it is a common dislike because of their slimy texture.
I wouldn't make him eat them, just make the risotto for yourself and make him something else.

Ds and Dd2 hate mushrooms, although dd2 will eat them when hidden in something.

Ds can hunt out the tiniest peice of mushroom in anything, but i still put it in.

My DH hated mushrooms before I cooked them for him...a badly cooked mushroom gives a bad impression ...I hate chinese mushrooms though...nasty slimy things and celery is evil...it actually looks and sounds tasty but isn't ..lol

Dh has hated mushrooms all his life - he always picks them out (I have mentioned before that when I am 'off' him I always put extra mushrooms in the dinner...) He also likens them to slugs, though how he knows what a slug tastes like I have no idea.
