No meat and no eggs - what protein for breakfast

Good morning,

Ok - I’m not being eating well due to lots of stresses in my life but now is the turning point as I wobble too much for my liking 🤣

problem is eggs I’m intolerant to so absolute no. No meat ever.

What can I eat for protein? Thank you soooo much - as eggs are so easy but my body can’t tolerate them. I struggle with breakfast with no protein and then I get busted for the day - so maybe if I could fix breakfast then the rest would be easy 🤞I’m heavy carb / nearly all carbs diet which I want to change.

I want to be a fit / healthy / wobble free mama 🤩 x

Aldi do a great protein granola to add to Greek yoghurt.

NannyR · 06/04/2024 16:26

Full fat greek yoghurt is low carb and high protein.

Would it be worth assessing if you need breakfast at all though, especially if you are eating a lot of carbs later on? I know that a lot of people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but I find I eat much better if I skip breakfast. For me, I've found that eating breakfast sort of flips the hungry switch and starts me craving carby snacks all morning, whereas if I don't eat breakfast I can quite happily get to lunchtime without feeling particularly hungry. Strangely, I find I have more energy and feel less tired and sluggish in the morning if I don't eat breakfast.

Silken tofu (usually in a tetrapak box at the supermarket but if you can get fresh "flower tofu" at an Asian supermarket, even better) warmed up 1 min in the microwave
Top with Bombay mix, salted peanuts, sliced spring onion, splash of soy, splash of sesame oil, bit of chili crisp

Breakfast of champions!

This sounds incredible!

Greek yogurt with chia seeds....a fruit compote and nuts. I also sprinkle some
Granola and add a bit of PB too!

GrumpyPanda · 06/04/2024 19:13

Shakshuka with feta.

Peanut butter on brown toast, lots of protein there.

My DS is protein bulking and has smoked mackerel, scrambled eggs and avocado for breakfast

Great suggestions! Some I never thought / heard of so looking forward to trying new things too! Thank you so much for your help. I'm going to try everyone's idea and then pick out my favourites for regular breakfasts x

Veggie sausage and beans

Do you eat fish ? Kippers and smoked haddock are traditional breakfast fish, although my French brother in law eats tuna straight from the tin.

I also dislike protein shakes, but do sort of DIY protein smoothie with natural yoghurt, kefir, nut butters, banana and honey. I'm toying with adding Creatin.

Fish on an am is a bit much ......
tuna from the can - not sure I can do that but tuna mayo at lunch is great 👍

Thank you

Shakshuka with feta.

Does it work without eggs?

CadyEastman · 07/04/2024 13:48

I love fish and I'm not sure I could do fish at 6.30 am on a weekday.

Touty · 07/04/2024 13:54

A piece of protein bread with peanut butter.

gavisconismyfriend · 07/04/2024 13:58

Cottage cheese. You could add some berries if you want to make it more interesting.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 07/04/2024 14:08

Fish. Maybe Sardines on wholegrain/sourdough.
Beans on wholefrain/sourdough
Bananas on toast
Yoghurt
Handful of nuts. Could also add to yoghurt.

Useyourfork · 07/04/2024 15:08

Pineapple with natural yoghurt tastes amazing.
Also love porridge made with jumbo oats with cinnamon and honey. 😋
Almond, cashew or hazelnut butter are much nicer than peanut butter I find.

TooMinty · 08/04/2024 10:17

Oh I forgot to say, the good thing about scrambled tofu is you can make a batch and keep it in the fridge or freezer

mindutopia · 11/04/2024 14:23

I often have udon noodles in miso soup topped with silken tofu for breakfast. Get the ready to wok noodles (just microwave for a minute or so), miso soup pouches in boiled water from the kettle, top with chopped silken tofu, chillies, sesame seeds, spring onions, fresh coriander, whatever you like.

bakewellbride · 11/04/2024 14:27

Amanda ducks has an amazing tofu scramble recipe if you search on YouTube, it's so good!

Chia pudding

Beans on toast
