Am making a train cake for ds' birthday and my usual fab chocolate cake will be too crumby to be able to cut into sections and decorate properly. My sister reckons that madeira cake is the way forward. What do you reckon and any delicious recipes please???

Madeira cake is def the best - holds together really well.

I'd give you my recipe, but have lent the book to someone to make anniversary cakes

Yes, Madeira cake. I have a recipe somewhere around...

oh thank you. Will have a look for a Delia madeira cake online. that is if she isn't now recommending just buying cakes to save time {grin]

fab Twig, so I can just multiply the quantities to make as much as I need? self raising I assume? (I know that sounds thick but want to get it right)
