Need extremely quick meal ideas

Imagine the scenario...I leave work at 5pm. I pick the kids up from Kids Club at 5.20pm, get home around 5.30pm...need to be at karate for 6pm...

Karate doesn't finish until 8pm so I need something for the kids to eat in that half an hour (between 5.30 and 6pm).

I'm assuming it will need to be something prepared in the morning and ready to eat when we get home, any ideas?

I'm thinking pasta salad? something like that? maybe a simple packed lunch in summer?

Cook some sausages and then when you get in, heat them in microwave and bung into granary baguette. I did this yesterday for ds2 as we had to be out of the house in 30 mins. Add an apple or banana and he's got all the major food groups!

toasted sandwiches
eggy bread with cucumber/cherry toms on side
flatbreads with fillings (make yer own, kids)

Pizza & salad - you can chop up the salad whilst the pizza's doing (usually takes only about 10 mins and most will cook from frozen, so you don't even have to worry about forgetting to defrost it in the morning)

I use my slow cooker all the time it is fab

you stick a load of raw stuff in it at 8am and anytime between 4pm and 10pm it is a meal

that filled pasta you get in the chiller
(takes 3 mins!)

with a quick tomato sauce-
chop onion and garlic - put in pan with drip of oil
add tin of tomatoes
some olives

sizzle for 5mins - serve over pasta with some basil if you like

thats my quickie meal. i always have some of that filled pasta in the freezer. the dds love it

You could have a one pot meal ready in the slowcooker for when you get home - stew or sausage casserole or even a nice homemade soup that could be served with crusty bread.
