What the heck is wrong with me?!

In the past 48h I have been on a baking spree, both with and without the dcs. I've baked bread, cakes, pastries, cupcakes. They all taste OK, but every single thing I've made has been either over-cooked or under-cooked, or else the tin has been under-greased so it's stuck and ruined the appearance.

Argh!

I used to be a good cook.

HAve you got a new oven? Or one you haven't baked in before?

Have you baked in a different oven recently?

Or is your oven slightly odd so requires diff timings to recipes?

(See where I'm going with blaming the oven )

It's not the best oven in the world, but I've been using it for two years now and thought I'd got the hang of its inconsistencies.

TBH you can't entirely blame the oven, as I forgot to turn it down for the pastries after baking the bread.

And it's not been over the past 48h, but the past 24h.

(See where I'm going blaming the cook's grey cell? )

obviously it's the oven being temperamental.

When I lived in shared house the oven was shite and didn't get hot enough to cook stuff like yorkshire puddings. I was explaining this to my (thick as shit) housemate, who gave me a lovely lecture on how to make them.

She got it wrong, I laughed a lot.

We didn't get on
