I bought most of the stuff to make it too but only managed to get the mini marshmallows the other day so am glad its worth making!!

dizzy-- DS liked making it and the mixture then decided he didnt want it once set.. I made my onw recipe up in the end because i only had very dark chocolate (my special hoard) or crappy milk chocolate which i wasn't going to use at all...

it was quick and fun though... DS loved using the sifter to dust the icing sugar over the top.

dd loves helping me too but loses interest once all the messy bits are done lol

will probably give it a whirl over the weekend, think its a nigella receipe I had

have also promised dh some more malteser cake at some point soon

my DH requested a rocky road cake for his birthday next week... not sure how i will accomplish that..will see what he thinks of this first batch.. alot of the recipes i found had condensed milk in the which i'm not a fan of but DH ans DS would jsut eat that i'm pretty sure.

they go MENTAL for it over here
vastly over-rated IMO
but yours looks nice, she back-pedalled

Dd1 once used up her sweets when we made it - lots of jelly babie style and marshmallows.

very sickly!

suzy- not ofended i'm not a big fan of it really.. not really into marshmallows.. ecept toasted over a campfire.. turned out nice though especially becuse of the dark choc and toasted pecans... have got good compliments so i'm happy..

littlerach- i dare not tell DS that you can put sweets in it.. otherwise it would be inedible... fun to make but blurg..

Nigellas recipe (which, iirc, is just brazil nuts, mini marshmallows & dark chocolate) is fabulous....

meridian · 23/03/2008 13:32

never liked brazil nuts... too fussy .. alot of them call for peanuts but my best friend is allergic so tend to use pecans which are ok and my fav...

I made it with walnuts and cherries in which was nice.
