I've just taken the meat off about 12 chicken drumsticks to make a casserole, can I make stock from the bones and bits left on them? How do I do it and what do I put in it?

Carrot, onion, leek, salt (needs a little) , pepper, water , celery, parsley - cover bones with a lot of water, throw in other ingredients and cook away on the hob until meat and bones are clean

had everything but celery, bubbling away now, thanks Erma. How long should it take?

Don't let it bubble too much. An occasional blup is good, but vigourous boiling makes a cloudy stock. Leave it for at least an hour.

Don't let it boil as this'll make it cloudy and taste a bit acrid.... simmer very very gently for 1.5-2 hrs and then allow ccol in the saucepan.

bollocks - boiled it for an hour - hope it still tastes ok. Oh well will know for next time, thanks so much for all replies....
