Anyone got a really good Strawberry Cake recipe?

I've got a party for 6 yo dd Easter Monday. DD has requested this year's cake should be strawberry. This is foreign stuff as far as I'm concerned - I only really do chocolate or coffee cake, sometimes both at once (I can be flexible), but I don't mind a challenge, so I said yes. Trouble is, all the recipes I can find involve lots of freshly whipped cream and I just don't think that's going to be easy for 20 6 yos in a confined area to eat without getting it everywhere! Any ideas out there?

How about individual meringue nests with strawberries in? You would need cream as well but you wouldn't have to cut anything up so it would be less messy.

I tried the idea of individual cakes on her and got a request for cupcakes AS WELL! It's a good idea though - might try again?
