Anyone recommend a good first sugarcrafting/cake decorating book?

I made my first birthday cakes last year and enjoyed it so I wondered if anyone out there could help me choose a good step by step sugarcrafting book.

It doesn't have to be themed cakes as I already have 2 books to give me ideas I need to know how to do stuff with sugarpaste.

Thanks.

The International School of Sugarcraft: Beginners Bk.1 has a step by step guide 20 lessons are covered in the book. try Ebay or Amazon to buy it.

I also did a course at Bettys of Harrogate which was fun. I really want to do a cake making course likes Squires run. If you fancy something like that give me a shout

Thanks for that, I keep promising myself a course but I am so tired at the end of the day that the idea of going out and having to concentrate scares me

I am a sahm and I have a medical condition so I get tired very easily and when ds2 goes to school which will be 2010 then I am definitely going to do some things for myself.

I will have a look at the book. We went to Harrogate years ago and the queue for Bettys was trailing out the door!! Needless to say we went elsewhere.

Just had a look at Squires, OMG, that does look tempting!! I did promise myself a chocolate making course when I lost lots of weight which I have done so why am I not on the chocolate course????

snap with the chocolate making course the two day one in July was tempting me. Also Bettys do a beginners chocolate course. Its good to do things for yourself and I`m glad your planning for 2010.

I would try the Debbie Brown books. They are themed, but the instructions are so clear and simple. I learned practically everything I know just from making things from her books. There is an example of one of hers on my profile.
