I am going to order on Amazon (as they appear to be cheapest), so can anyone give me their recommendations please? I don't want anything too fancy or complicated, just something easy but nice . Thanks.

Jamie's dinners is fab for simple fresh family suppers
beautiful book and quite sane

MrsBadger · 12/03/2008 18:10

also the Dinner Lady book

but I cannot suggest strongly enough borrowing them (free!) from the library first then buying the one you like best

I got the Nigella Express book for Christmas. I've cooked lots of lovely things from there.

The most used in our house is delias complete cookery
Jamie and Nigella also fab

Thanks just looked at Delia's book - looks good as does Nigella's. Hmmm, which one?

I might do as MrsBadger recommended and look in the Library first though ..

I had a look through Mary Berry's Complete Cookery Book (£25) at Borders at the weekend - very impressed. You won't need another one. I have her baking book and everything without exception comes out with the wow factor.
