Yesterday I baked a batch of chocolate cupcakes, and chocoate squares.

I need massive amounts of cupcakes to feed a birthday part of 50 childrens +!

Now I need your recipes for "yellow" cupcakes! IE No chocolate.

I want them tangy, moist, airy, vanilla, or lemon or orange flavoured! I need a mountain of different cupcakes and icing and decorations ideas!

Well, I have sent my dh out for self raising flour. Hope he does not come home with a pack of seeds, or something equally bizarre.

your dh does the same kind of shopping as mine then

Wohei! Thank you Thank you all!

I sort of combined Dizzys recipe with Nigella... Because I did not understand what you meant Dizzy when you said to beat together HALF the amount of flour etc. But I used your recipe and Nigellas method, lol

THEY ARE LOVELY! SO moist and fluffy!

I used vanilla essence, and apricot youghurt for one batch, and vanilla essence and strawberry youghurt, and a spoon of mums home made strawberry jam for the other batch. Now I need to keep them separate so the icing will be suitably flavoured and coloured. Cant wait to decorate, one with pink silver balls and the other with yellow candied orange segment thingys.

Will make more batches in the week, as need to feed 50 kids.

Now, I hope they freeze well!....

oh QS sorry - my bad, its only half the yogurt not half the s/r flour but I see why it doesn't read well - glad you ignored it and they turned out well!

QuintessentialShadow · 09/03/2008 16:59

Ohhh, I did another batch this morning!

I left out the youghurt, had 2 ss cacao, 1 loades ss Green & Blacks chocolate spread, and 2 ts rasperry jam. Spread with the chocolate spread on top, and wow wow!

I just made some coffee cupcakes today... its a basic yellow cake recipe and a basic butter cream frosting with coffee in it obviously... going to go nibble on one in a little while. with a cup of coffee naturally

Wow CoV your lily cake is a work of art

I am inspired and will be making all manner of small delicate cakes tomorrow, both fairy and cup

ComeOVeneer · 11/03/2008 14:22

How is it going QS?

I am currently planning my mother's 60th cake for the Easter weekend. It is a 2 tiered "whimsical" cake. One tier is chocolate kahlua cake filled with chocolate kahlua mousse and iced in choc buttercream, the other isred velvet cake with raspberry chambord (liquer) and white choc ganache and white choc buttercream. This is the template for the decoration. I am using homemade marshmallow fondant rather than store bought as it tastes much nicer. Wish me luck!

ComeOVeneer · 11/03/2008 18:31

here

Tickle · 11/03/2008 22:38

CoV will anyone actually want to cut the cake?? fantabulous! How does one make marshmallow fondant icing? Is it difficult?

I'm a bit of a novice... about to try sugar roses for the first time
