I'm off on holiday tomorrow - can I freeze full fat milk or will it explode in my freezer?

thanks!

Yes you can freeze it, but not in a glass bottle. It does expand but doesn't explode.

fryalot · 07/03/2008 20:31

yes.

But when you're defrosting it, it doesn't stand upright, it wobbles

pelvicflawed · 07/03/2008 20:38

Always freeze mine (buy loads once a week) - just pop it in a bowl overnight to defrost - overcomes wobble and drippiness

Fab thanks very much for all your replies!

watch out for visitors throwing defrosted milk out of your fridge though because it's "not in date"!!
V.annoying!!

somersetmum · 07/03/2008 20:49

It will expand a bit, so you need to leave a bit of space around the container. I have about 40 pints of milk frozen in my freezer at the moment.

i always freeze semi-skimmed milk - no prob takes nearly a day to defrost and needs a shake. Full fat, I think separates a bit more but should prob be alright after a good shake!
