Help! Any ideas why? Followed recipe exactly! It's DD's birthday on Saturday and so wanted to make her a cake!

Loolop I think you are an amazing mum to go to so much trouble for your DD. I am sure yours will taste 110% better than the shop bought one and every one will be so impressed!

Just stick really big candles on it to make it look higher and piles of butter icing and it will taste gorgeous!

PS cadelaide - I am another K&C addict. I luuuuuuurve their almond fruit tarts... I sometimes go there for lunch when I am feeling super extravagant.

Well yes, tyv makes a very good point, what extraordinary lengths you have gone to.

Lucky girl.

oh Good, Well Done.

I'm so glad.

Now you can congratulate yourself with a big, fat glass of wine (or whatever)

I am crap at weight conversions,
but I usually use
6oz flour, sugar and butter and 3 eggs.
but if your eggs are large then weigh them. you basically want your eggs to weigh the same as everything else and if they are very large then you can sometimes end up adding too much egg,.

have to say I successfully use the "bung it all in and hope for the best" method with this recipe (using real butter too) and rarely have a prob- but it does turn out better doing it gradually.

anyway, glad you sorted it, and well done persevering lol

Well done. Bet there isn't even a tiny bit of that cake left to share with all your "helpers" on here!

Well done, pleased it was all a big success in the end. Am so impressed with your amazing perseverance & dedication.
