I have poorly mash (cheesy mashed potato) when I'm feeling sorry for myself (or im hungover!)

bundleofyulelogs · 15/12/2004 18:17

egg in a cup is what we have when we're poorly (mashed up semi-soft boiled egg, with knob of butter and salt & pepper) with soldiers, of course

charlie01 · 15/12/2004 18:20

yum egg in a cup not had that in ages! That was my poorly food when I was little!

bundleofyulelogs · 15/12/2004 18:21

charlie, thought we were the only ones

ZCMUM · 15/12/2004 18:21

Yolk has to be runny! Soft white soldiers to dip in! YUM

FimboCLAUS · 15/12/2004 18:57

Bundle/Charlie01 what was it with egg in a cup - I mean why in a cup? I always got this when I was unwell as a child and so did DH..

A good curry and plate of steeming rice....mmmmmm

emMerryChristmastmg · 15/12/2004 19:24

Toast, white bread only with lashings of butter.

It has to be buttered within seconds of coming out of the toaster so that the butter makes little puddles when it's melted.

Ymmmmmm

noddyholder · 15/12/2004 19:27

I can't believe someone else had egg in a cup!I was brought up in northern ireland and v common there. It really does have a different taste to other eggs

xmascaroltygirl · 15/12/2004 20:20

It definitely does - I'm giving my own two a good old-fashioned N.I. upbringing now, where egg in a cup figures prominently when they're not well.

oxocube · 15/12/2004 20:31

Another vote for toast here, but with unsliced bread which I slice into doorstops and eat piping hot with enough butter to cause a heart attack Oh and a cup of milky Earl Grey tea. Why do we need men?

80sMum · 15/12/2004 20:37

Hmmm. Dh has been away quite a bit over the years, sometimes for months at a time, so if I ate chocolate every time he was away I'd not be very healthy by now! Sometimes I like to buy something a bit expensive that we wouldn't usually have, like tiger prawns or smoked salmon.
