Another balnk post. But here is my suggestion - both of you totally naked and sitting in the bath.

Is there anything wrong with Mumsnet tonight then? My post was lost for some reason. Anyway... here's my original post for this thread:

Hi. My DS is 4 1/2 months old and has been on solids for a couple of weeks. He enjoys his food and is eager to try feeding himself by grabbing the spoon and sticking it in his mouth. This of course creates a lot of mess. I have tried letting him hold his own empty spoon and feeding him with another, but then he gets too busy chewing on his spoon and doesn't take food from mine.

What is the best thing to do to avoid minimum mess? I don't want to not let him try to feed himself, because I believe that is all part of the learning process. Any advice from other mums would be appreciated.

Heehee... both totally naked in the bath is a good idea but doing this twice a day would be quite tedious

I remember well the your spoon and my spoon thing - also tried two dishes and two spoons - found this created interest in what was on the dish so distracted from the chewing on the spoon lark - hope this helps !!!

I don't think that I have ever seen a baby stay completely clean when being fed, or at least not at the stage where they were getting interested in food. Personally I wouldn't worry about it, or if I did I would cover the walls, ceiling and floor, the baby and myself with plastic lol.
