mine are a few days past their 'best before" - what's that thing you do with a bowl of water to test if they're off?

It's to do with if they float or not...can't remember which way it is though....If I'm unsure about an egg I just crack in into a separate bowl to see if it looks/smells off

float = bad

sink = good

Agree with TheMaskedPoster. Floating is bad. Usually they are OK for a couple of weeks after their Best Before.

You'll remember the float/sink thing better once you know that if there's air in the egg, that's when it's bad. And that's also what makes it float.
