Is my dd drinking too much milk???

Hi, opinions, input please ladies.
DD is 21 months and has always had a really good appetite for both food and milk. She's been on whole cows milk since she was a year old having about 3 7oz cup fulls. Lately its all she wants and is eating less. Maybe its just cos her back molars are coming through, but I read somewhere kids don't absorb enough iron if they have too much milk. She drinks some water, not very much, eats a little of everything and has never been fussy. But now she's drinking over a pint of milk a day and won't eat anything she has to chew. just spits it out saying "too big".

Should I give her semi-skimmed or water it down?

By the way she's very tall and weight 12.5 kg (just over 2 stone)

Always been over 91st centile.

Any thoughts????

Cheers x

My son is the same and 21 months too. Ate well yesterday, but revently been eating less and drinking more milk. he has well over a pint of milk. I'm not too worried but was also thinking of watering it down a bit. No help, sorry!

DS1 has always drunk massive amounts of milk It's difficult to balance it isn't it if they are not eating terribly well. Even now, at 6, he reverts to more milk and less food if he's feeling a bit off colour. Sounds to me ike your DD is in a bit of pain with the teeth and the milk is comforting.

Good to know other kids are sometimes the same. I always joke with my partner "my name is Tegan (dd) and I'm a milkaholic."

She has other strange tastes too. Her fave foods are tinned mackeral, carrots, peas, and plain pasta. She loves it when her brother doesn't finish his fruit puree pots as she gets them. in fact now she'll ask for "fruit" and when I give her a bowl of choppped kiwi, prunes and melon she says "no, fruit!" Like I said she doesn't like chewing right now.
