Lulumama · 24/02/2008 22:52

that is why i switched to organic......

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2008 22:52

Eeeeeeew!
I'm switching to soya milk from this moment onwards.

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2008 22:52

So there's no pus in organic? Phew.

Furball · 24/02/2008 22:53

I've heard that too and there has been loads of threads here about it. Personally even though we do have organic milk in this house, I don't believe it.

Furball · 24/02/2008 22:53

goats milk is nice

Lulumama · 24/02/2008 22:54

think there is a lot lesss, than in regular milk.....

UniversallyChallenged · 24/02/2008 22:54

Where did you read this ?

All I can think of is that Heather Mills had a go at trying to peddle this notion a year or so back

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2008 22:55

I wanna barf

Bbbee · 24/02/2008 22:56

wouldn't there be more pus in organic as they haven't had the anti-biotics?

Psychomum5 · 24/02/2008 22:56

I thought this was a joke when I heard someone say it earlier!!!!

is it true?????

and if it is true, altho as a milk allergic person, I am feeling rather smug.

hope to goodness it is rumours/jokes tho as DH and the psychokids do have milk products!

southeastastra · 24/02/2008 22:56

no-one has died from drinking it, even if there was

southeastastra · 24/02/2008 22:57

although someone will probably say it can cause cancer

onepieceoflollipop · 24/02/2008 22:57

I am a bit to say where I read this, only she described it as mucus, not pus.

It's a book by she who must not be named, in the section about weaning and quantities of milk to give dcs, iirc.

I read it AGES ago, I am not saying I agree with her advice.

MrsBadger · 24/02/2008 22:58

'pus' is just white blood cells
milk is alive
same as veg etc

bloody scaremongering

UniversallyChallenged · 24/02/2008 22:59

i dont think it was Ms mills - cant remember where i read it, have just had brain freeze since.

style.uk.msn.com/family/pregnancy/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5745772 this is an interesting article. loads of stuff if you google

soya milk makes me boak!

UniversallyChallenged · 24/02/2008 23:00

MUCAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT'S EVEN WORSE

OP posts:
fingerwoman · 24/02/2008 23:00

Bbbee no. because organic dairy herds tend to be smaller and less intensively milked and also looked after better to avoid instances of mastitis etc (precisely because they can't be given anti-biotics)

onepieceoflollipop · 24/02/2008 23:01

Sorry...

Just off to make a nice milky drink of cocoa before bed. Night all.

Don't vegetarians eat/drink dairy? I thought that was the defining difference between vegetarians and vegans.

Anway, isn't it the case that we would never eat anything again if we based it all on what quantity of foreign bodies, bacteria, noxious particles, or whatever were permitted in it? I remember reading something (sorry, can't remember where) about the quantity of insect body parts that was permitted in some common foodstuff or other.

Not persuaded to give up milk.

onepieceoflollipop · 24/02/2008 23:11

And if you gave up milk you would have to give up milk chocolate as well. No chance.

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2008 23:12

I've got a four-pint bottle of non-organic in the fridge. Bleurgh. The shop had run out of organic. I'll be more careful about what i buy from now on.

luciemule · 24/02/2008 23:14

I did read a few back about the growing acne problems in teenagers could be down to the hormones in milk. I assumed it meant extra hormones given to the cows - not their own hormones! Therefore Organic would have fewer.

Very interesting article - would never have thought about the fact that no other species drinks milk after weaning. How true.
