Am I being thick? Question about best before date on a box of bakewell tarts!!

DH and I have just tucked into a pack of Mr Kiplings Bakewell Tarts. DH thought that they tasted a bit soft, and when we looked at the best before date it said 03 Jan
Now, would you think that this meant January 2003, and therefore be 1 year 11 months out of date?
or
January 3rd, I guess 2005

We bought them today at Tescos...

I would think it was 3rd Jan 2005. However if they tasted crap take them back anyway

TheCattleWereLowryn · 12/12/2004 20:45

Nah, you will have to spell it out as I am clearly that thick Blush

Thanks cranberryjampot. They do taste a bit funny, but I would normally eat them anyway. DH is the one who wants to take them back!

In the old days if there was nowt on box, we would have jumped on each other like sex starved beasts...How has it come to this?

sorry, but I am obv thick too- I would def say that 03 Jan meant Jan 2003-why would they put a day but no year-makes no sense at all?

What if you out them in your cupboard and brought them out in March 05? You would think they were ok till 3rd Jan 2006 then.

saintlysecur · 12/12/2004 21:42

must go to sex therapy too Blush

LOL!!! It sounds like our house - dh and I are sliding into middle age, with conversations like yours re the cakes, and whether we fancy a cup of tea or a cup of coffee before bed. What ever happened to passionate evenings on the sofa???!!
