Well I would....fry a small chopped onion and a couple of garlic cloves till transparent in veg oil or butter...mix about a table spoon or 2 of madras curry power in a little water to make a paste (if you have a jar paste you can use that instead)and add to onions...fry for a few minutes..add water and veg or chicken stock (about 400ml) with the rice (250g)plus a bay-leaf...season with salt and pepper to taste...cook for about 12-15 minutes till the rice is tender or has absorbed the stock...you can add cooked frozen veg into the stock or afterwards...if you like it really spicy you can also add red chilli flakes too...let me know how if goes..
