white instead of brown sugar?

Does it matter? Want to make some brownies but only have white sugar. Anyone tried it?

I'm sure it's too late for you but I would say either sugar - even icing sugar would do. I use whatever I've got in the larder. It does make a difference - brown sugar has a more treacly taste and white sugar goes crisper, but either will be yummy.
