Why do apples make me hungry?

Does anyone know? According to everything I read, they're full of fibre, the ideal snack and very good for you. But whenever I eat one, I feel desperately hungry shortly afterwards (and so eat something much less healthy, which sort of cancels out the apple!)

Any ideas?

Because they're not satisfying enough to cure your crave for something more substantial.

Birdly -at last!! Someone who feels the same as me. DP thinks I'm weird when I say that apples make me hungry.

No idea why it happens though

I always feel really hungry about half an hour after eating an spple too, even if i wasn't that hungry before. No idea why...

Yay! Glad it's not just me! Maybe someone will come along who can tell us why...

Same here! Tis v strange!

me too - with fruit generally - I can eat 4 pieces of fruit over a couple of hours and still feel hungry - but a slice of bread or a packet of crisps stops hunger in its tracks.

A real bummer if you are trying to lose weight !

throckenholt · 21/02/2008 11:29

oooh - you are not alone ! here

fatzak · 21/02/2008 11:34

I hate apples I really do. I don't know I eat them as they give me no enjoyment at all

Birdly · 21/02/2008 13:40

Thanks for that link, Throckenholt - but as you say, no ruddy good at all if you want to lose weight!
