What's a good nibble to have with a glass of wine that's more substantial than a bowl of peanuts, looks like I've made an effort, isn't a full on meal and is easy to do??

The things I usually go for is a cheese board and/or cold meats with gherkins and some bread or crackers. It's substantial enough to fill you up and soak up the booze but not a full meal.

Another option is to buy some pmpernicklel bread. It comes ready sliced. Spread some cream cheese on it then cut into little squares (do the spreading before the cutting, otherwise it all crumbles) Decorate each square with either a slice of gherkin, a slice of tomato, some dill or parsley etc.

A selection of salamis, with a bowl of olives, cournichons in the middle and cherry tomatoes, along with some grilled houlami cheese - tastes delish and v v easy to do. Make sure you grill it with foil underneath as it sweats. Also keep a close eye on it as you grill as it can burn easily.

get some salami, nice olives, breadsticks, and buffalo mozarella - go on, they are your friends and you love them, right?
