1LB of shin beef - cut into equal cubes/sized peices. If you can't get shin beef get stewing beef.

2 large carrots
2 parsnips
1 onion
1 pint stock and mix into the hot stock 2 tablespoons of tomato puree

Put the beef raw into the bottom of the slow cooker and sprinkle one tablespoon of plain flour over the meat.

Chop the vegtables and onion up and throw in on top.

Pour over the stock and puree and pop the lid on and set to cook on low for 10 hours.

serve with jkt pots, mash pots or boiled new.

Shin beef?
Stewing beef!?

Is this food the things that normal ppl buy?
Where do i find it?
I think i recall a frozen meat section in morrisons

lol seriously though isnt meat like that quite expensive?

shin beef is one of the cheapest cuts of beef - it needs long very slow cooking, thus is ideal in a slow cooker.

I go to the butcher to get meat, ask your local butcher on the high street.

Morrisons may have a "butcher" but whther he/she knows anything about meat I don't know?

TheWiltedRose · 17/02/2008 14:27

to be fair though shin beef does sound disgusting dont you think?

So what other meat can i cook in a slow cooker? there must be some nice mince or chicken recipies i like those meats there normal to me lol

you can cook any meat in a slow cooker - even bung a whole chicken in for your sunday roast, with an inch of water or stock in the bottom to keep it moist. Leave it on all day and it will fall off the bone, beautifully cooked.

Mince, tinned toms, any veg you have in (onions, mushrooms, peppers, courgettes, carrots) finely chopped and a splash of worcester sauce makes a nice bolognese sauce for pasta. Add a tin of kidney beans and some chilli powder and you have chilli con carne instead. I'd eat that with rice, chips, baked potato or crusty bread.

I'll confess to cheating quite a bit and chucking chicken/quorn/diced beef in the slow cooker with a jar of chicken tonight or curry sauce from the supermarket. You can throw in any veg. I normally put it on low in the morning and let it cook all day while I'm out and about.

Hope that helps!

we're having pulled pork for tea.

pork join, loin or roast. pour a bottle of dr. pepper's over it and leave it to cook on med. overnight or for about 8 hours.

tip out the dr. pepper and pour a bottle of BBQ sauce over the meat.

heat on low for a few hours and the meat will be soooo soft it will shred easily.

we're having it with spicy baked bean casserole and potatoes tonigth, but you can put it on a roll for a sandwich, in a tortilla, and basically get a lot of meals out of it fairly cheaply.

TheWiltedRose · 17/02/2008 17:19

expat really??? Dr pepper??? eeeugh!!

And thank you that did help! You can really bung a whole chickin in!?
