diluting 6am milk feed-is there any point??

have read various past posts about diluting early am feeds to make babes sleep longer. ds wakes at 6am on the dot and wants bottle, even if he has not gone to sleep till 8pm night before. by the time i am actually feeding him it is nearer 6.30, so is there any point in diluting this, to try and get him to last till 7am? he is stll tired at that time, so i feel he needs to sleep till at least 7am, for his own benefit and mine!!

Don't see much point diluting it. Does he stay awake afterwards? You could just try giving him a drink of water and leaving him to go back to sleep.

he used to go straight back to sleep, last week or so he's started sleeping on his front and moving round the cot. so when i put him back now he stays awake even though he still looks tired.

think that for half an hour, give or take, you're not going to have much joy.

I struggled for ages with ds, thinking that because GF said babies should sleep 7pm-7am, mine should too. He is 3 now and wakes most mornings at 6am for some milk, though at least these days he goes back to sleep once he's had it (and drinks it alone!)

uuumm, that was my thought...

My boy wakes at 5am, very rarely changes his sleeping habits. I feed him and then top up with formula. Once my little one is up he rarely goes back to sleep in the mornings only at the weekends. I then give him a small feed at 7am and he goes back for an hour in his pram for his morning sleep. The GF doesn't work for me. He goes to bed at 5-6pm and sleeps until 5am so I have to adapt the feeds to suit him.

Alibo - be grateful for 6am! my ds is still waking between 4.30 and 5.30 am and has also stopped going back to sleep after a feed. He wants to play for an hour or so - THEN he goes back to sleep. Its ok just now as I go back to sleep with him till 8 ish - but back to work in the new year - so hope this 'phase' has passed by then.
