Delia's How To Cheat

From the few recipes I have seen it seems this way is going to be more expensive and not necessarily the best food used (tinned mince meat to go with frozen mash)

And 'Aunt Bessie's' yorkshire puddings apparently. Can see the recipes now - open packet, put food in microwave, wait for ping. Not Delia's finest moment me thinks..... Get Nigella Express instead.

Can't stand Nigella express just cos she's a bit nauseating. Looking forward to seeing Delia's version. The sainsbury's mag quotes her saying "this is not how to cook, it's how to cook when you're busy". Which of course isn't the cheapest way. But I'm busy. And I need help!!!

I didn't really get Nigella at first but made some of her stuff from the TV series and became a convert. The chocolate pistachio fudge is amazing.

Think Delia saw Nigella's 'short-cuts' idea and hopped on the band wagon which is a shame, cos Delia was the original kitchen goddess and Nigella the kitchen slut (no offence ). The saintly D's cookery course book is still the best book covering all the basics of cooking IMO and my most referred to cookery book.

Have just found out that Delia first wrote How To Cheat in 1971 and has just updated it. I take it all back.

doesn't she do a weekly How To Cheat column in one of the papers? i reckon Nigel Slater Real Fast Food is the best for quick and proper food...

Not tried him. Saw him on telly and found him irritating but might give his book a go. Ta
