how to make rice, pasta etc so it is nice served cold the next day?

DD doesn't like sandwhiches but loves rice how do I cool it so it doesn't go all ssticky and yuck?

Same for pasta!

With the rice I would try and fluff it up a bit with a fork a few times as it is cooling. Need to get it in the fridge asap as rice can be a bit dodgy if not chilled quickly. (but I am sure you know that)

Pasta I tend to only cool small quantities otherwise ime it all lumps together.
