Baby cups...advise please

My DS has just turned 1. He drinks water from a cup happily but only from the freeflow ones and still a great deal of this ends up all down him and all over the floor.

I want to start giving him his milk in a cup and avoid so much spillage. Any advise as to what to buy...tried the Tommy Tippee ones with handles and the big rubber sucker things but he doesn't seem to understand what to do with these as the nozzle things are so different to the Avent one we have.
What d'ya reckon?

Another vote for a doidy cup. We loved them and used them successfully from DD being 4 months.

Hi All,
I got tommee tipee cups for my 6 months old baby and she cant seem to get water out of it. it seems the teats are too hard for her. I feel avent cups are better.
Anyone with this same problem?

I have exactly the same problem with DS (6 1/2 months) with the Tommy Tippee cup. He just couldn't get anything out of it. I tried it myself to see once and it was really hard for me! I think I'm going to buy another cup so I might try the doidy one. Thanks for the tip, cict17 & Hulababy!

those tommy tipee ones are really weird, you have to bite the teat to get anything out.
dd liked the smaller tommy tip ones which had the flip down nozzle, but now she loves her kids on the go sports bottle

I got the growing up cups from Mothercare this time around (had the cup dilemma with ds1 - with ds2 I went shopping in a surge of "ooo weaning soon" excitement and went of the basis of "ooo these are pretty and they match the bowls and spoons!!") - surprisingly for an impulse purchase, they are actually very good and ds2 took to them straight away (breastfed baby) and slugs back several swigs of water each meal (7 months old).

They have two valve settings - slow for this age then fast for when they're a bit bigger, so hopefully will last a bit.
