because the pizzas that come in the van are going downhill

and every so long I just cannot be fagged and we call the man with the van

and it used to be nice but now it is not

and I have tried some frozen pizzas and found them to be vile

I want an emergency pizza in the freezer for when the kids have eaten and I want the pizza/ wine/ film option

any nice ones? (no waitrose please you feckers we are in the North West)

Sainsbury's have Pizza Express Pizza on special offer atm - two for £5.

Buy, Freeze!

I think the Co-op ones (the fresh ones you can freeze rather than the already frozen ones) are the nicest frozen pizzas around. Thin, doughy base and nice topping. Not a great selection though I don't think

Cappuccino · 13/02/2008 13:13

Dr Oetker (I think) are very nice

will look for a link

They are our can't be arsed food.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/02/2008 13:16

Sainsburys taste the difference ones are really good too, and freezable.

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2008 13:17

yes I like the Dr Oetker ones as well
They're not really enough though, or am I just a pig??

onepieceoflollipop · 13/02/2008 13:18

You can freeze the "ready made" bases I believe. So if you had a few spare minutes (ha ha ) and couldn't find a ready made/takeaway alternative, you could prepare some in advance. I have only frozen them without toppings, but there is no reason you couldn't put the toppings on first. We use tomato puree (or leftover pasta sauce) then any meat/veg you fancy or is available. Top it all with mozzarella or any cheese you have.

My dd1 likes to "help" so it can work as a craft activity too. Btw I am not being smug, as I do buy "proper" frozen ones as well. Dh has a gluten free diet which is why I started making them this way, He has to have a gf base. I buy the normal bases in the supermarket - next to the dried pasta usually.

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2008 13:19

do we all agree the tesco ones aren't very nice?

OrmIrian · 13/02/2008 13:21

Yes, I like the Sainsburys ones (some of them). Fresh ones not frozen. Not a big fan of pizza generally but the one with goats cheese and spinach is nice.

TigerFeet · 13/02/2008 13:22

Dr Oetker

StealthPolarBear we usually have two whole ones between the three of us, along with some sides

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/02/2008 13:24

Dr Oetker are really good, especially the one with chilli.
I agree tesco ones are rubbish!

Cappuccino · 13/02/2008 13:25

I can make a meal in 5 minutes

I just don't want to

I am very pleased that you think I am cooking ! I like to think so too, makes a change from the nights I send dh out to the chip shop!

Can you still get frozen freschetta pizzas - they were quite nice.

littlerach · 13/02/2008 13:35

The Dr Oretker ones are lovely.

I also bought Lidyl's margheritas last week and they were very similar, and ridiculously cheap.

Tesco's are foul, and make me very thirsty.

ladette · 13/02/2008 19:29

If you want a quick home made version, can recommend using naan bread as bases (a la Nigella Express). We just top with tinned toms and ham/mushrooms/peppers whatever we've got. Best with mozarella but any cheese in an emergency. I know that wasn't what you asked! Agree about it being hard to find decent frozen ones. I tend to buy margherita pizzas then add my own extra toppings these days.

TrinityRhino · 13/02/2008 19:30
