Anyone got a recipe for an easy fruit loaf cake?

Couldn't find anything in the archives...

Don't want a tea cake where you have to soak the fruit overnight - just something fairly light that is quick to through together but in a similar vein I suppose...

Like the Waitrose one? (ducks to avoid the anti-Waitrose crowd )

my normal one is a soak overnight one

You could make this one in a loaf tin though:
8oz SR
4oz sugar
6oz dried fruit
4oz butter or marg
2 eggs
6 tbsp milk

mix all together
2lb greased loaf tin
gas 4 1 - 1.5hrs or till knife comes out clean

That sounds ideal. I keep intending to do an overnight tea loaf but never remember in time!
