Best recipe for beef casserole please!!

I know I can rely on you guys. My beef is sitting looking at me expectantly...

red wine and strong coffee a bizarre but lovely combo to cook in, equal quantities of each.

toss beef on seasoned flour and fry to seal, add in chopped onions, and garlic amd fry till golden.

add mushrooms, carrot, whatever you fancy and a tin of toms

cover with liquid (as I say wine and coffee good!), - add pinch nutmeg and 2 tsps soft brown sugar bring to simmering point

medium oven 160C for 2 hours

oh, about 150 mls coffee and 150 mls red wine

Thanks PandaG - do you mean make up 150mls instant coffee?? Freaky, but if you recommend it!! Willing to give it a go!

yes - 1.5 to 2 tsps instant coffee in 150 ml hot water...I know it sounds truly odd, but was the contribution of DS's teacher to the school recipe book...I tried it and we all really like it!
