Followed the recipe perfectly, mixed it all really well, put it in the oven gm4, at 30 minutes it had risen brilliantlly, it looked gorgeaous.

I left it another 5 minutes, took it out - did the fork thing - its was just complete goo inside,

put it in another 10, still goo

another 10 still goo

My aunt suggested gm6 so i did that but only left it 5 mins and one side burnt.

The other side was lovely though! lol

Any idea what went wrong?

Did you use the right sized tin? (Sorry if that's really obvious.) What was the weight of dry ingredients and size of tin? Might be able to work out if the recipe cooking time is too low.

I do lemon drizzle as a loaf and it takes 45 minutes. A thick cake, in a round tin could well take longer.

Otherwise, you could have a leak in your oven, but if you usually do cakes just fine, then it won't be that.
