Black salsify? Give us a clue

We got some of this in our veg box. What's it good for? Looks like an enormous skinny black carrot on the outside and a coconut on the inside. No idea what it tastes like so don't really know what to do with it.

info about it Here - I've never heard of it! But there is info on preperation

Oh, love, what were they thinking of, giving you one of those? What a faff - cook with sauce &c &c - doesn't even look like you could offer it to a rabbit!

this stuff's yummy. I've had it done like a parsnip in restaurants - chopped into chips, roasted in butter. Quite a mild flavour, milded than parsnip.

found a recipe here too

Ooh thanks everyone. I am getting a bit sick of root veg tbh. Bring on the summer

I've still got the black salsify from last week's box. What did you do with yours in the end, gingerninja? Think I'm going to pretend mine are parsnips and serve them with roast chicken later.
