Restaurant Help Needed, Near Paddington Station

Title says it all really.

Can anyone recommend somewhere for my parents & brother to meet for a memorable (for the right reasons ) lunch not too far from Paddington Station ?

No allergies/food issues but probably wouldn't want to do Thai as bro is homesick enough after leaving their 4 month old little girl for 24 hours already, & still has 6 days to go...

Hope someone can help.

There are some great restaurants round there, especially if you like Middle Eastern food. My favourite is Patogh on Crawford Place (5-10 minutes walk from the station), which is Persian & does the most yummy (upmarket) kebabs. There are some reviews here . You will need to ring & check they're open at lunchtime. I gave birth to ds at St Mary's & was furious when both dp's & my family disappeared off there to celebrate his safe arrival!

Twink, I live near Paddington but Hoxtonchick is obviously way more informed than I am about restaurants in that immediate area. I agree there are lots of great middle eastern ones over there, including Maroush on the Edgeware Rd, which I quite like.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I know about in London is Four Seasons, on Queensway, which is a 10 minute walk from Paddington. It's a place you go to for the food only--atmosphere is a bit blah as is the ultra quick service.

I'd avoid the restaurants on Praed Street, which tend to be almost exclusively fast food. Sorry I'm not of more help, Twink. I haven't seen Joffy around in a while, but she'd probably be a big help. She really lives in the thick of Paddington, which I do not.

Hijack alert: Hoxtonchick, do CAT me (if you want) next time you fancy a meal at Patogh or otherwise find yourself in the Paddington area.

And I just found this list of Paddington area restaurants if it helps. The only ones that really jump out at me are the Middle Eastern ones, such as Maroush, which I mentioned earlier. The rest are mostly chain type restaurants or otherwise boring looking. Nevertheless, this list gives 140 ideas. . .HTH.

Thank you ! Amazing what Mumsnet can produce while I'm asleep, I'll pass the ideas on.
