I do have a recipe - it is dead easy, I'll dig it out when I get back from getting soaked kids from school.

the ingredients are pretty straightforward, it's just the rolling and the shaping and the pounding i.e. the technique that is the thing you can't master unless you have an elderly Central American martriach to spy on.

even I wouldn't make my own tortillas and I have seriously considered it.

225g/8oz fine cornmeal
1 egg, beaten
little lukewarm water

Mix cornmeal with 1the egg and water to get a dough that comes away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead on a work surface until smooth and stand for 30 minutes. Cut into 8 equal pieces and roll out to very thin pancakes
Dry fry in a hot non-stick frying pan until speckled brown on each side - about 45 seconds on each side.

You can get a gadget called a tortilla press, which flattens out the balls of dough so that they are very thin. If you cannot get hold of one of these, then patience and a rolling pin is all you need.

CoV - that sounds about right, my recipe actually says that you should roll out with a broom handle, to 'feel' the dough.(!?) Watching them puff up in the frying pan is fun tho.
