1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 sm. pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix well and bake at 325 degrees farenheit or 160 degrees celcius for about 6 minutes or until barely turning brown.

If they aren't soft enough for you use honey, golden syrup or molasses. Moisture is retained better through the baking process. Secondly try cooking them at a lower temperature. Try lowering it ten degrees at a time as you test them out. Thirdly, remove them from the oven when the edges are just golden, not dark, brown and the centre still looks a bit on the raw side. They will cook on for a minute or two, depending upon their thickness and density, so that you get them just right. The problem is that every oven varies so it is a mater for some experimentation. Oh, and if the recipe calls for eggs use two egg yolks rather than one whole egg.

Cookies bake fast so even an extra minute is enough to burn the whole lot. I set my timer for two minutes less than the recommended time and then watch them carefully. Even then I get it wrong from time to time.

try this one

but amend the instructions slightly as follows:

instead of "dark chocolate" use chocolate chips, either milk or dark doesn't matter.
instead of rolling the dough into a sausage shape, put spoonfuls on to baking sheets, spread wide apart.

and it makes way more than 12/15 that way.
