Probably a very silly question about fairy cakes

Please somebody humour me as im probably being rather thick but could i make fairy cakes with plain flour rather than self raising?
Is it that they wont taste the the same or is it the obvious that they wont rise?
Just being lazy and dont want to go out and get some as got all other ingredients!
Thanks.

they won't rise, have you got any baking powder?

MrsBadger · 28/01/2008 15:13

they won't rise
make biscuits instead

OverMyDeadBody · 28/01/2008 15:14

Theyt won't rise at all unless you have some baking pwded you can add to the flour. They will turn out rather solid and flat otherwise, it's more the texture than the flavour that will be affected!

i thought so, thanks anyway. No, dont have baking powder! Ill look for an easy biscuit recipe instead.
Thanks for replying though.

I've used that recipe - it's fab! I add chopped up glace cherries to it
