Driven by nostalgia - I want chocolate concrete!!

Does anyone else remember chocolate concrete from primary school? It was sort of chocolate cake-ish but harder hence the name. It used to be served with custard. Does anyone have any idea how to make it? If so I would greatly appreciate a recipe.

Oh my god, You have now created a stirring in me! I loved that stuff, sprinkled with sugar!!!! My DH'd best friends mum (long winded i know) was my dinner lady and I have just text him to see if she's got the recipe!!! I hope so

Oooh I used to love that - it was so hard that you had to hack at it with your spoon and half of it often went shooting across the table. They actually have something called chocolate concrete in our local bakery and I tried it once but either it wasn't the same as the school stuff or my tastes have radically changed because it wasn't very nice at all.

JODIEhab - I so hope that she remembers the recipe! Winetime - I know what you mean - we had so much FUN with chocolate concrete at school. As I recall it was best if you managed to hack it into fine-ish crumbs and then mix it with custard resulting in a sort of Haagendaz cookies and cream effect.... Yum.

Don't remember that but does anyone remember the GORGEOUS fudge sauce they used to serve with blocks of incredibly white ice-cream? I'd love that recipe (and where did they get that white ice-cream?).

Well no reply from my friend and he's off on holiday this week (to sunny barbados, so i don't think Chocolate concrete will be his main priority! )

But am determined to get to the bottom of this.... Might have to become one of my cravings, am 15+6 and I haven't had any yet!

think it was called chocolate crunch here, probably the cause of many a filling
