With my birthday and Christmas on the horizon its time for my annual cookbook wish list update! I buy quite a few but hoping for some gems i might have missed. We eat pretty much all types of food but my preference is for middle Eastern and Asian food.
I'll start with my most used books this year;
Turkish Delights
Persiana Everyday
Dominiques Kichen
Flavour

Thanks in advance for the inspiration! Also meant to say I did have subscriptions to BBC good food and olive until a few months ago but found i wasn't using them as much as I used to do let them expire.

The new Jamie Oliver one pan book. It only came out a couple of weeks ago but we've made six different family meals out of it since it arrived all with minimal faff or washing up.

anchoviescapers · 25/09/2022 08:16

My most used is
The 5 O Clock Apron - I love Claire's recipes, a real variety of cuisines, but real cooking ideas for home/family. She was a professional chef, now is a mum of 3 so you get the best of all that experience and her recipes always work and are well tested. Her instagram is worth a follow too as she makes good little videos. Very down to earth cooking but interesting too.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/09/2022 08:16

I've been watching the Jamie series and getting annoyed as he's clearly using far more than one pan in most recipes! Generally I'm a fan of his books though so I'll check it out and try to ignore the blender, pestle and mortar etc in the washing bowl!
I have a Leon book with i like so I'll check those out thanks, and know nothing about Avoca so one to look in to.

If you've not come across Diana Henry then check her out. She write for the telegraph and is on Instagram, my favourite of her books is Oven to table.

NighghtmareNeighbour · 25/09/2022 08:18

The saffron tales
Food of life
Keto kitchen

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/09/2022 08:20

Falastin has been on my wish list for ages I don't really know why I don't have it yet as I know I'll love it 🤷‍♀️ I've never heard of the 5 o'clock apron so I'll have a look. I'm very much in the market for easy but delicious - i work full time and DS does loads of hobbies so time us tight but none of us want to compromise on the food we eat.

I bought Notes From A Small Kitchen Island by Debora Robertson and it's absolutely wonderful and useful.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/09/2022 08:21

I have a couple of Diana Henry which I do like and I find her writing style very easy to follow

I always come back to Every Day, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall

I find him smug and irritating on telly but goddamn the book is so good!

Xiaoxiong · 25/09/2022 08:23

Yes along with Ottolenghi Diana Henry is my most used author but as I have quite a few of her books it's hard to pick individual books out except from the oven to the table - they're all brilliant and just work.

Cook Simple
A bird in the hand (only chicken!)
A change in appetite
Crazy water Pickled Lemons (which is Middle East & North African dishes and probably right up your street OP)

anchoviescapers · 25/09/2022 08:25

5 oclock apron has written quite a more books since the original which I have, i've
No doubt they are all useful but I really want the Tomato one! And thelarder one!

anchoviescapers · 25/09/2022 08:27

And Ottolenghi Plenty (1&2) & Flavour are also in high rotation

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/09/2022 08:33

I feel the same about HFW and never pick up his books as he irritates me so much!
I have Crazy Water and Bird in Hand and should definitely use them more!
I'm going to follow 5 o'clock apron and see what I think before buying.
