What shall I cook for dinner? (stuck)

Am really stuck for ideas here.

Have got beef mince.

Veg: broccoli, carrots, celeriac, potatoes, leeks, cabbage.

Usual store cupboard stuff.

Am fed up with serving up the ubiquitous cottage pie/bolognese.

Any ideas much appreciated!

you could have a veg lasagne - do you have any pasta?
or veg curry

or if you really want mince you could make meatballs or burgers

meatballs with a nice tomato sauce and rice

mmmmmmm

Twiglett · 23/01/2008 15:52

chilli con carne?

Beefburgers?

savoury mince stuffed cabbage leaves?

Do you have any pastry? You could do some sort of mince and onion pie, with mashed potatoes and veg (creamed leeks or broccoli and carrots)

Or bubble and squeak? Not sure what that's served with though.

I think you can also do celeriac mash.

The meatloaf sounds nice, Hana...

I only have Ready-Brek though! Not sure it would have the right taste!

Didn't think of meatballs! What do I need to do, mix with egg?

Rissoles?

nailpolish · 23/01/2008 15:55

mix with egg if you like but i dont always (dont always have eggs!)
eggs bind them well tho

mix with onion and some herbs - not too big or they wont be cooked in the middle

Have got frozen pastry in freezer... too late to use?

make a nice tomato sauce to go with the meatballs

fry half an onion and a clove of garlic
add tin of tomatoes
add some olives
when reduced a bit add basil leaves or any other herb you fancy

hey presto

(someone will come along with a better sauce recipe - they always do - mine are always made up)
