Mushroom pie ideas please

DP has always had this idea of a mushroom pie of some sort. It involves a pastry lid. And mushrooms, of course! Does anyone have a recipe? Would love to surprise him when he gets home from work tomorrow.

Thanks!

I would soak some dried porcini mushrooms and use the liquor to make a veloute sauce. (Similar to a white sauce but you use the mushroom stock rather than milk/cream to make it).

Then I'd fry in a variety of different mushrooms with lots of garlic, in a little butter. Stir through the sauce and add some cream and herbs then pop on a puff pastry lid.

That sounds good Soapbox. I think he is imagining quite a rich, dark sauce - do you think I would get that?

The porcini is very dark and rich, perhaps reduce the liquor down until it is really strong. I can't think of anything else you could add to make it richer tbh.
