cheap dinners

well hurrah - last week i meal planned and ordered food online and it not only saved me money, but was also great to cook properly. BUT i still find the shop adds up to more than it should.

looking for some cheap dinner ideas - just for me and DH. only restrictions really are no egg-based dinners or tinned tuna. even simple ideas would be great.

spinach or chickpea curry and yellow daal get my vote for cheap and delicious - nutritious, too.

veggie lasagne using Puy lentils instead of mince
fish pie
veggie shepherds pie again with Puy lentils

This thread has loads of good ideas. It's an old one but I have it saved in my 'watching' list for inspiration! Yorkshire puddings bulk up dinners. Also eat less and have a pudding like apple crumble - very cheap and yummy!
