Is pastry sweet or savoury unril you make the filling? I bought some ready rolled to make an apple pie and now want to make a savoury one.

I am making pepper, goats cheese and onion tart. Do I need to precook the onion and peppers?

You can make pastry sweet by adding sugar when you make it but you can use normal pastry for a pud - that will still be nice.

I would precook the onions and peppers, just sweat them down a bit on a low heat.

If it's sweet it will be marked so

Lots of people use pastry without sugar to make sweet things - but sweet pastry can't (really) be used for savory things

I probably would precook - are you using a recipe?

No, I am making it up as I go along.

I think it will be fine as the pastry def isn't marked as sweet.
