Well I call it cabbage, becasue that's what it looks and tastes like, but it actually says "spring greens" on the bag

Blandmum · 20/01/2008 13:13

I have ordered the beef for next week.

I've been shopping on line with sainsburys this year. I estimate, that even taking the delivery charge into account, we are saving about £30 a week, because I don't impulse buy. And I'm wasting far less food as a result.

purpleturtle · 20/01/2008 13:14

Roast chicken at about 5.30 in the turtle house. With swede, parsnips, kale, and probably carrots so there's a vegetable the kids will actually eat!

saltire · 20/01/2008 13:15

slarty - yorkshire pudding is batter in smaller tins like this

Twiggypiggy · 20/01/2008 13:15

Roast beef (which sainsburys delivered yesterday), mashed potatoes, brocs, carrots and courgettes. Oh and some yummy gravy.

purpleturtle · 20/01/2008 13:16

SBF - you can cook yorkshire pud in a loaf tin. Critical bit is to get the fat really really hot before you pour the batter in.

NoNickname · 20/01/2008 13:16

Slarty - I do my Yorkshire puds in a "muffin tray" - you know, a large-ish tray with twelve dips in it. And yes, it's just a batter mixture. Delia is apparently the best (so dh says - but he adds an extra egg white).

Nappyzone · 20/01/2008 13:17

roast chicken but for tea as was up to late to do for lunch - will be a lazy cooked chicken from tescos though!

saltire · 20/01/2008 13:18

MB - I have been shopping online for ages now and like you say, even with the delivery charge, i am saving about £20/£30 a week.

NoIHaventChangedMyName · 20/01/2008 13:18

we're not. Dp doing us a spag bol later as the mince needs to be used today. A rare night off cooking.

SlartyBartFast · 20/01/2008 13:19

thanks folks ...

dc's will love that, normally do toad in the whole but since ds taken dislike to sausages, tis a bit of a palava

bozza · 20/01/2008 13:20

No, DC going to a birthday party and will eat there. Party is at an Italian restaurant so I might bring home a pizza or else it will be leftover shepherd's pie for DH and me.

princessmel · 20/01/2008 13:22

We're having a fake one!
Chicken (breasts) and sausages, Auntie bessies yorkshire puddings, home made roast potatoes, carrots, peas, sweetcorn (only veg ds will eat)and gravy. Mmm

princessmel · 20/01/2008 13:23

Ooh and parsnips, my new fave

purpleturtle · 20/01/2008 13:25

Our parsnips still have half a field attached - not looking forward to dealing with that!

lizziemun · 20/01/2008 13:25

probaly.

Going to IL's fop dinner, so overcooked meat and veg - yummy .

castille · 20/01/2008 13:30

Roast lemon chicken here, but couldn't be bothered with roast potatoes (I don't have a double oven so it's complicated - how do you all do it?) so we're having mash, with carrots, broccoli and lemony gravy.

Blandmum · 20/01/2008 13:31

I always roast the potatoes (and parsnips if we are having them) around whatever meet we are having.

Doesn't everyone do this??

Blandmum · 20/01/2008 13:40

ComeOVeneer · 20/01/2008 13:54

We are having rib of beef with tarragon bearnaise sauce, fried cep mushrooms, roast pots and sweet pots, yorkshires, carrots and brocoli with marsala wine gravy, followed by pannetonne bread and butter pudding.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 20/01/2008 13:55

COV

Where did you buy your rib ??

VanillaPumpkin · 20/01/2008 13:59

Just had ours.
Roast (free range ) chicken, turnips and carrots mashed, roasted fennel and potatoes, cabbage and bacon and gravy. Was yummy and loads left for tomorrow.
We can't fit all the potatoes we would eat in around our meat. [greedy emoticon].

Eliza2 · 20/01/2008 14:05

Roast chicken for us!
