Another "when do I start weaning question"?

DD is nearly 19 weeks and totally breast fed. She has been sleeping through from about 6 weeks. The past 2 nights she's been waking at around 3am and having a feed then going straight back to sleep.

I'm in no hurry to wean her but I don't think she'll get to 26 weeks. She's small for her age and was born 2 weeks early. I was planning to try her on baby rice around Xmas she'll be about 22 weeks then but do you think I should be starting sooner? Most of the other babies her age at mum and baby group have already started so maybe it's a bit of peer pressure I don't know. Any suggestions on what you dud would be really helpful?

Alsi should I buy a blender or a food processor to make her food?

hi sweetkitty!

my dd started on wee bits of baby rice, pureed pears etc when she was 20 weeks. you will know shes ready if she really enjoys it. its lovely when they start weaning, getting to try lots of new flavours etc and i dont think you should worry about it being too early, despite the guidelines ive read that most people are like you. try and express some breast milk if you can to mix with the food, and i would get a wee blender (tabletop one and a hand one if you like - both are useful).

if you cant express i think you can mix it with formula.

lots of luck and enjoy!

ps get plenty bibs
