DS1 is 22mths and until last week was a totally fab eater - olives, pesto, hoummous, sprouts..the whole 9 yards. There was nothing he wouldn't eat. All of a sudden he has started refusing things for no apparent reason. He will not entertain a vegetable and he won't eat pasta anymore either so i can't sneak veg into the sauce. We are down to meat and fish, so I can sneak a bit of grated veg into a home made burger but that's it. He won't eat anything with a sauce. He will eat bread but refuses rice, potato and pasta. Fruit and yoghurt are fine and he'll eat Weetabix, Porridge etc for breakfast. Now i have written it down it doesn't seem so desperate but I can't just give him a plate of meat for lunch and dinner! Any suggestions as I'm finding it really hard work - DS2 is 4 months so i don't always have time to sit with his brother coaxing and cajoling at mealtimes. Any thoughts on ways to get vegetables down him and please tell me you think this is a phase!

Sounds like a phase to me - DS tends to eat loads of anything and everything one day, and then refuse everything but toast the next.

As for tips, I offer a sort of mezze offering with lots of odds and ends - cheese, grapes, toast - if he's being difficult. Baked beans and peas also tend to get eaten.

I also don't discuss it with him (he's 2) - I think the more you cajole etc the more they enjoy the fuss.

Good luck!
