Making a Stir Fry Tonight & have a Really Daft Question...

I have just checked the recipe and need fresh ginger which I forgot to buy. I can't get to a shop today so can I use ground ginger instead? Bit as I am usually pretty good at this sort of thing!

I figured I could mix it with the honey before I add it to the pan?

Should be fine - I have used ground ginger instead of fresh lots of tmes and it has always tasted ok

ground ginger is a very different taste to the fresh stuff, I'd just leave it out altogether, so many flavours in a stir-fry that it won't make much difference. Compensate with more garlic!

Thankyou both - the more garlic sounds good to me!!

Just had a thought - I might have some five spice knocking around, could get bit creative!!

oooh yes, add some five spice, I love that, especially with chicken!

am feeling hungry now - will have to make do with soup until later!

What stir fry are you making?? I might make a stir fry tonight.

MissusH · 18/01/2008 12:50

It was in Now magazine last week - it is Chicken with mange tout, asparagus, peppers, beansprouts, honey, soy sauce ginger & garlic (think that's all - am at work and the recipe is languishing in my kitchen!)

I'm adding some straight to wok noodles too so dd will eat it!
